Keymasteris an ok idea but suspect it will fall apart polyphonically
which may be a ‘back to the drawing board’ thing…https://www.dropbox.com/s/dibqxwayhdpfhvg/IosMIDI_b3.amxd?dl=0

ParticipantHi Dave, first, have a wonderful holiday season ! Second, this beta forum is a good idea !
Third, for your new project, it could be more efficient if you would write a few lines saying what features or behaviour you expect for new projects. It’s not always obvious to infer behaviours from unknown objects, especially at preliminary development states.
I’m not complaining of course, just saying you would have faster feedback.best regards,

Keymasterhey Philippe
yes of coursethis one takes note input
filters out any note beyond the range set
then filters notes according to an interference pattern – like Iosif
there is no clock
it counts the number of notes input…
the main issue is that it probably won’t work polyphonically
would like to know whether you guys think is worth the code headache to do thatdave

ParticipantIt reminds me I long wanted to make an anti-sequencer, generating all 128 notes at first and killing some we would not want 🙂
I like this idea, though I don’t know if a massive crowd could be interested.
But we could launch a handful of notes and then decide which ones will survive more or less. An anti-game of life ?
I guess it could have scales, and handle original or overwritten duration etc
Don’t know if this helps…December 27, 2020 at 2:25 pm #8262Dave Dove
Keymasterwas thinking it could be a freebie
just to add rhythm to input sequencesDecember 28, 2020 at 1:03 pm #8281philippe
Participanteven better. But I would not personally use it if it did not pass original duration thru.

Keymaster@Philippe
i guess i would like it to be a bit of fun
note durations can be awkward
and is not a MIDI gate if it doesn’t gate??
i threw it together as an add on to mono sequencers
when i get further with the euclidean thing i’ll think harder about thisJanuary 1, 2021 at 9:48 pm #8325philippe
Participantmm, sorry Dave, I don’t understand “and is not a MIDI gate if it doesn’t gate??” What do you mean ?
Yeah I know you don’t like durations. But if it’s for anything but drums/percs, fixed and static durations kills the pleasure IMO

Keymasterhey Philippe
usually gates impose a duration
like a switch
when i’ve got the other sequencer doing good things i’ll come back to this
the internal implementation is very basic
and clearly needs more thoughtdave
