i’m thinking pop up display
atomic theme – exploring electronic configurations as presets for the number of rings + steps or hits… something like that
this is very early days on this thinking but for eg:
potassium 2:8:8:1 usw
each ring (old style theory) contains a number of electrons – these days is shells and subshells
potassium has 2 subshells on the 2nd and 3rd shells which could trigger different things………………………………….

There’s going to be plenty thunder in this thing when I pop the can. That said, your analogy of electron orbits gets me wondering if a sequencer couldn’t collect enough in a a timer or container in order for an electron to quantize to another orbit? Have some ability for a particular sequence lane to jump tracks to an outer sphere based on a counter or an oscillator or a modulator based on density of activity…

in some ways using an lfo on the combine control does that by changing the relationships between patterns
however
i did something in reaktor that uses sequences to rotate each other
my favourite idea atm is to use an interference pattern to trigger change
we’ll have to think on
